Planning for Bankstown

Planning & Development
The City of Bankstown is a vibrant and exciting City - a key regional centre serving Western Sydney.  In addition to employment lands and regional infrastructure, the City of Bankstown supports a range of land uses including residential, business, industrial, community, open space and recreational.

Bankstown City Council is conscious of the rapidly changing requirements of an every-growing urban environment.  To effectively manage the City and plan for the future, Council has adopted planning guidelines, policies and area plans to encourage high quality urban design, energy efficiency, environmental and infrastructure management.

Council takes great pride in providing for a strong customer focus in their dealings with planning and development matters relating to the City of Bankstown.

Pre-Lodgement Services
Council provides two pre-lodgement services designed to assist applicants in the preparation of development applications.

Development Control Unit (DCU) meetings are held on Tuesday and Thursday morning and primarily cater for medium scale development.

For larger scale developments Council welcomes developers to attend Major Development Design Assessment Panel Meetings.  These meetings are held monthly and generally cater for multi-storey developments.
