About Wheel Out West

'Wheel out West' is a free community cycling event, usually run in Bike Week in September. The inaugural Wheel Out West in 2014 saw almost 100 participants take part in the event which caters to cyclists of all levels, from beginners to more experienced riders.

The event sees Council partner with Fairfield City Council, offering a long ride through the Fairfield City Local Government Area (LGA) as well as the Bankstown area. A shorter ride around Garrison Point is available for beginner riders as well as a cycle skills workshop.

The event has been held annually since 2010 (originally known as Bike Around Bankstown and awarded Parks and Leisure Australia - Best Event in NSW) and has seen more than 500 cyclists jump on their bikes to experience the joys that cycling has to offer.
