Bankstown Bites Slide 1
Bankstown a-la-carte!

Mark your calendars for the 2014 Bankstown Bites Food Festival, which will be held on Saturday 9 August this year.

Living up to its reputation as one of Sydney’s best and most loved food festivals, Bankstown Bites attracted an estimated crowd of 10,000 and no one went away hungry or disappointed!

Foodies from all over the Sydney metropolitan area and beyond came along to enjoy the perfect combination of guided food tours, cooking demonstrations and a diversity of food stalls that delighted even our celebrity chef, Marion Grasby who was often seen sampling and tweeting about the marvellous food on offer.

The 500 patrons who were lucky enough to experience one of the Discovery Food Tours were able to explore the world of exotic and tasty culinary treats that we in Bankstown take so much for granted. Many were astounded by the number of restaurants, cafes, patisseries and grocery stores that make up the Bankstown CBD. The aroma of spices and smallgoods and the temptation of Sydney’s finest Lebanese sweets were far too much to resist with festival-goers stocking up on treats to take home.

In the Bankstown Arts Centre there was food for all the senses with amazing displays of fruit carving, gem and stone cutting, foodie flicks, dress-ups with Bankstown Theatre Company and a poetry slam with BYDS.

Children were able to make their own fantastic fruit crowns, show off their talents with food craft and have their faces painted as mums and dads enjoyed the entertainment and sampled a free coffee and Turkish delight from the Arabic Coffee Tent. There was even a penalty shoot-out with stars from the Western Sydney Wanderers.

We would like to thank the sponsors who helped make Bankstown Bites such a fabulous day for all the family:- The Torch, News Local Canterbury Bankstown Express, Bankstown RSL, AFC Asian Cup 2015 and Bankstown Sports.
