Public Transport

The bus system in Bankstown CBD is changing

These changes are effective from Monday 8 December 2008.

  • The existing North Terrace and South Terrace bus terminals are closing. Buses will no longer pick-up from these points*.
  • A new bus interchange will replace both terminals and will operate from the south-side of Bankstown City Plaza.
  • The new bus corridor will open the Bankstown City Plaza overpass to buses and result in changes to traffic. Pedestrians and commuters are urged to take extra care on and near the roads.
  • For more information on bus timetables visit 131500.info or call 131 500.

The Bankstown Bus Corridor and Bus Interchange is a State Government and Bankstown City Council partnership to create better links with public transport services and connect bus routes between the north and south of the City.

* Night Ride will still operate from Stand G in South Terrace

Public Transport Improvement Plan

While Council has no direct responsibility for public transport, its importance to the Bankstown Community resulted in the adoption of a Public Transport Improvement Plan in November 2001. This Plan confirms Council's commitment to:

"… fulfilling its roles in supporting services with the ultimate aim of improving access and reducing use of motor vehicles to improve the environment and community health and amenity."

If you would like a copy of the Public Transport Improvement Plan, please call Council on (02) 9707 9999.
