Library Act 1939
Bankstown City Library and Information Service, provides services based on the Library Act of 1939. This Act establishes the Library Council of New South Wales as a statutory authority, with responsibility for the provision of library and information services in New South Wales through the State Library of New South Wales. The Act also establishes a relationship between the Library Council and the statewide network of public libraries operated by local authorities.
