Come along to the Bankstown Arts Centre and explore the artist in yourself with your family and friends.
On Saturday, 16 July the Bankstown Arts Centre is holding an open day from 10am to 4pm for anyone who would like to try their hand at a variety of activities.
There will be workshops on drumming, digital photo fx, pastels, painting and sculpture. You can even create your own unique sculpture, get your portrait painted or learn some Latino dance moves.
Mayor of Bankstown Clr Khal Asfour said the Open Day is a chance for residents to discover their artistic abilities.
"The Bankstown Arts Centre has only been open since February and has already proven to be popular amongst residents and visitors from across Sydney.
"The open day will showcase this outstanding new arts facility and is a fantastic opportunity for resident to come and not only see the Centre, but try painting, sculpture or any number of art forms,” Mayor Asfour said.
At the open day, visitors can also experience some of Bankstown’s local artistic talent and see a short film and art installation called Windows to the World - a program made by six local artists showing new ways to explore the City of Bankstown.
While you are at the Centre, pop in and see artists in action, whether they are running choreography classes, performance workshops or polishing gems.
The Centre's gallery will also be displaying paintings as part of the Bankstown Arts Society's Annual Awards Exhibition - ‘Bankstown City of Changes’.
To register for the free workshops please call the Centre on 9707 5400.
