The HomeGrown exhibition which features photographs of the best entries in the 2012 HomeGrown Photographic and Garden Competitions opens tomorrow at the Bankstown Arts Centre.
Mayor Khal Asfour said the exhibition will run until Thursday October 25.
“It’s great to see so many people have been nominated,” Mayor Asfour said.
“There are certainly some very talented photographers and gardeners living in Bankstown and proud of their city.”
The best ‘snappers’ and ‘green thumbs’ are vying for hundreds of dollars worth of prizes.
A total of 107 entries have been received in the photographic competition in the Open and Junior categories, while there were 12 entries in the garden competition in the following categories:
Mayor Asfour said photographs of the best-of-the-best are now on display at the Arts Centre.
“I can’t wait to see which will be chosen as the winners,” Mayor Asfour said.
“The judges are faced with some very hard decisions.”
Entrants in the garden competition were encouraged to show their commitment to environmental sustainability, with people using water wisely and employing sustainable gardening principles awarded bonus points.
Winners will be announced at a special ceremony at the Arts Centre on Wednesday 24 October.
