Bankstown’s thousands of library patrons now have the opportunity to download the hottest music for free straight to their smartphones.
Mayor Khal Asfour announced patrons can download three free music tracks every week.
“All patrons need is their library card and PIN to set up a free account to access around three million MP3 songs from the Sony Music Catalogue,” Mayor Asfour said.
“These are free to keep and free of Digital Rights Management restrictions because the library has already purchased these rights.”
If patrons have an Apple device (iPhone/iPad/iTouch), they will be able to download the eMusic Freegal App by doing a search for ‘Freegal Music’ in the App Store.
For patrons with an Android phone or tablet, they will be able to search for ‘Freegal Music’ in the Google Play store.
Freegal is Bankstown City Council’s partner in providing the downloadable digital music service from the library eServices portal at: library.bankstown.nsw.gov.au.
How it works in five simple steps:
• Download the app to your mobile device;• Once installed, search for Australia and then Bankstown City Library and Information Service;• Enter your library card number and PIN;• Browse, search and download music directly to your mobile device; and• Download up to 3 tracks per week.
