Mayor of Bankstown, Councillor Khal Asfour, has welcomed the release of Australia’s 2011 Census of Population and Housing data.
“The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) gives a very important up-to-date snapshot of Bankstown,” Mayor Asfour said.
“Census data is vital for understanding our community and will underpin future Federal, State and Local Government planning in our region.
“2011 Census data will help show Government decision makers where amenities such as schools, hospitals, roads and public transport are needed most.
“Census data is also used every day by a range of businesses, organisations and individuals and is a wonderful way to learn about the community in which we live.
“I therefore encourage all Bankstown’s residents and ratepayers to take a look at the 2011 Census data.”
Census data is now availible free-of-charge on the ABS website www.abs.gov.au/census.
