Yet another Bankstown superstar has thrown his support behind Mayor Khal Asfour’s Charity Dinner at Bankstown Sports Club later this month.
IBF World Featherweight Champion, Billy ‘The Kid’ Dib, has jumped into the Mayor’s corner just days after Punchbowl boy, Vince Sorrenti, was announced as Master of Ceremonies for the June 29 event.
“Despite the fact he’s preparing for his next fight, Billy has taken the time to donate an autographed set of boxing gloves,” Mayor Asfour said.
“An item like this, which has been autographed by the current world champ, is much sort after so I expect it will be a popular bidding item on the night.”
Billy said he wanted to do something special for the event.
“I wanted to attend but, due to my commitments in the lead-up to my next fight in just a couple of weeks, I am unable to do so,” The Kid said.
“So I thought the next best thing was to donate something which means a lot to me, my boxinggloves, for the auction.
“I hope the community supports the cause by bidding generously for the auction items because the great staff at Bankstown Hospital need extra help to look after our sick kids.”
All funds raised on the night will go towards equipment for the Paediatric Ward at the hospital.
Other items to be auctioned include:
