Bankstown City Council is offering residents the chance to microchip their dogs and cats for free over the course of two Saturday’s in mid to late May.
The microchipping program is part of Council’s strategy to ensure all cat and dog owners in the Bankstown LGA comply with the law by microchipping their pets.
“Council understands the importance of pets to our local families and is committed to helping our residents keep track of their pets,” said the Mayor of Bankstown Clr Khal Asfour.
“This free initiative is about helping our local pet owners fulfil their obligations under the law, without having to pay the fees charged by vets and other private service providers.
"It also gives pet owners peace of mind knowing that if their cat or dog goes astray, the chip can be used for identification purposes.
“I encourage all residents to take advantage of this free initiative, it can make all the difference between having your pet returned home or never seeing it again,” Mayor Asfour said.
