Last week I joined with members of Padstow RSL Sub-Branch for the annual ANZAC Day Book Presentation at Padstow Library. For 38 years, the Padstow RSL Sub-Branch has been generously donating books and money to Padstow Library. These donations enable the purchase of additional resources. Thank you to the Padstow RSL Sub Branch and to those individuals for their kind donations. Councillor Linda Downey also attended the presentation evening.
The Rotary Club of Revesby Wirrimbirra, together with the sponsorship of Rotary Foundation, Australian Rotary Health, the Mental Health Council of Australia and the Revesby Workers Club, last week held a community forum to discuss issues pertaining to mental health. I was pleased to officially open the forum. The evening was very informative with a number of guest speakers discussing their experiences of working in the mental health industry and caring for those with a mental illness. Pat Rogan and Clr Downey were in attendance.
Council is always looking at improving the services it provides to its residents and as part of this, two of our city's library branches will shortly be undergoing renovations. Panania Library will be closed from Monday 7 June to Monday 14 June inclusive for renovation and will reopen on Tuesday 15 June 2010. The library will reopen with a new patron service desk for streamlined service provision. Greenacre Library will then close for renovations from Monday 21 June to Saturday 26 June, reopening on Monday 28 June as a new service desk is installed to improve materials returns for library patrons. For customer's convenience, a longer lending period will apply during rennovations. For more information please contact Panania Library on 9707 9737 and Greenacre Library on 9707 9744.
