Throughout this week seniors across Bankstown have been participating in a range of planned activities. On Sunday I was pleased to officially open Council's Seniors Week celebrations at the Seniors Spectacular held at Bankstown Sports Club where it was great to see so many residents enjoying the concert. On Saturday morning I had the pleasure of officially opening Bankstown City Netball Association's 2010 season of competition. Thousands of players from the many clubs involved in the competition participated in the traditional march at Deverall Park before commencing play. Daryl Melham MP, Alan Ashton MP and Councillors Ian Stromborg and Allan Winterbottom also attended the opening.
Also on Saturday I went along to Bankstown's Community Harmony Day celebrations at Carysfield Reserve. A large crowd attended the community fair and enjoyed the range of cultural performances and activities and the AFL Harmony Cup. Thank you to the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Football League for their contribution towards the event. Minister Barbara Perry MP and Councillor Alex Kuskoff also attended the event.
Later that day I called into Bankstown District Baseball Association's Grand Final Day where I made a number of presentations to players in the under 10's and under 14's competition. Congratulations to all the players and to Bankstown Sports Baseball Club for hosting the day.

Last week I called in to Council's International Women's Day breakfast at the Town Hall. Attendees heard from a number of guest speakers in line with this year's theme of "Empowering Women to End Poverty by 2015" before taking part in a gentle wellness exercise session. Councillor Linda Downey was also at the breakfast.
