Bankstown City Council welcomes today's announcement by the Premier, Kristina Keneally for a free air-conditioned shuttle bus service for Bankstown.
Mayor of Bankstown Clr Tania Mihailuk said the free shuttle bus service is a win for the Bankstown community.
"After recent representations calling on the State government to commit to a free shuttle bus service - today this service is one step closer to reality, with the state government announcing a new shuttle service for Bankstown.
"This one way loop service will greatly benefit the community by providing a free public transport option connecting residents to key destinations within the CBD."
"This is a great victory for the community of Bankstown," Mayor Mihailuk said.
The Bankstown Shuttle Service will transport residents and visitors between locations throughout the CBD including the transport interchange, Centro Bankstown, Bankstown RSL and the Bankstown Sports Club.
This service will particularly support the elderly, mobility impaired and parents of young children.
Bankstown's new shuttle service will begin operating on Monday 14 March 2011 and will run every 20 minutes, 7 days a week.
